Shiva (Berwick, Canada) on 19 May 2014 in Miscellaneous and Portfolio.

Victoria Day (in French: Fête de la Reine) is a federal Canadian public holiday celebrated on the last Monday before May 25, in honour of Queen Victoria's birthday. The date is also, simultaneously, that on which the current reigning Canadian sovereign's official birthday is recognized. It is sometimes informally considered as marking the beginning of the summer season in Canada.
Victoria Day means ---- bicycle, motorbike, fiarst RVs, Fishing, Cottage opening, boat rides, Ceremonies, and .............. a family BBQ ...........
Choice of music - a tribute to Rita MacNeill, born in Nova Scotia and died last year.

Sue-Ann from Quebec, Canada

We are talking about Victoria of course. Queen Elizabeth II came and also in Quebec. She never comes anymore because people don't want to see her here for political reason. Even Prince Charles who is visiting Canada now, does not come in Quebec anymore because last time he was not welcome and had been shown. You know in Quebec Queen is English and Quebec wants to be free... a long story. In Canada the holiday is for the Queen but not in Quebec. Patriots holiday is for was between French against English in 1837.

20 May 2014 10:18pm

@Sue-Ann: Thank you soo much for you taking time to teach me. I will get a book at the library today and read up. Its a shame not knowing the details. - Kindest regards Monika

Sue-Ann from Quebec, Canada

Don't worry about this Monika, I was a tour guide so I know but did not know before and nobody knows about history here in Quebec especially about monarchy... Some people have a great interest about monarchy so they follow everything but others, I don't think so.
